Privacy

When you give us personal information, using either email or one of our online forms, we only forward your information within the council to officers who need to see it in order to respond to it. Each council department that deals with enquires from the website will also be subject to the council’s information management charter and data protection policy.

Where an enquiry is dealt with by a third party there will be a contract ensuring that your personal information is protected. No personal information will be passed onto third parties for commercial purposes. Currently enquiries are only dealt with by a third party when you report a faulty streetlight using our online form. The information in this form is sent directly to Amey so we are able to respond more quickly to the problem.

Emails sent to comments@york.gov.uk and york.traffic@york.gov.uk

Emails sent to the above email boxes will only be forwarded within the council. If an email needs a response from someone outside the council (a third party) a reply will be sent to the person who sent the email providing third party contact details (if known) rather than forwarding email to the third party.

Comments emails may be archived so that we can track the number and nature of the comments we receive. For the purposes of managing the website none of the personal information in these emails will be used once the initial enquiry has been dealt with.
